Here are some images of our final design model.

All aspects of our final design were thouroughly thought through and added for specific purposes..

Cross Ventilation- As the house was designed for a tropical climate, there had to be good cross ventilation to catch the cooler southerly breezes. We incorporated a linear design so that the breeze could easily travel through the building. You can see on the last picture the louvres in the middle.. They were added to provide light when open, cover from the weather when closed, and opened when the cool breeze came through so that they could travel throught the building...

We also added high ceiling for the hot air to escape from.

As it can be seen in the images, there are many south west facing windows. This is to ensure adeqaute lighting can be obtained whilst a fantastic view over the cliff face and Kakadu plane can be viewed. The north east facing walls incorporated louvres and much smaller windows to keep out the hot sun whilst still provding a path for the cooler air to move..

The shape of the roof and eave overhang was also designed at angles, shapes and lengths purposely. This was to provide shading from the sun during the winter to summer months, and for solar panels to provide a sustainable means for energy..(voltaic battery cells stored in studio)

Although it cannot be seen here, we included a hydro wheel for energy during months when the sun is not as prominant. this sat under the decking of the house, which was on the creek.(Can be seen and described on the posters)

We also used materials that would be able too survive in the tropical climate...

From these images the design of our house can be clearly seen, and the shading incorporated by the roof can also be viewed...

We worked very hard on the model and by the end were extremely happy the way it came up...

it was a shame the reviewers did not even consider the model in the presentation....
