Kakadu Site: Team C6: - Thumbnails and development

Kakadu Site: Team C6: - Thumbnails and development

From research a precedent was put together on existing architecture and ideas on living in such isolation and tropical climatic conditions. This concept above featured the main ideas.
-Elevated from the ground (because of extreme rainfall/cross ventilation)
-Wide eaves (protection from weather)
-Use of louvers instead of glass (allows for ventilation/reduces embodied energy)
-Ventilation cap at top of roof (works on the principle of convection)

Choosing of Site: This site features a slight slope which has eroded away at the base leaving exposed rock formations. The slope is orientated west.

This is the design that we are currently further developing:
The canopy (roof) appears to be completely independent from the floor space below. It is supported at corners by poles holding it in tension.
The floor space is currently a rectangular space that is completely open-able using louvers, decking wraps the north facade of the building.
Further development has occurred as seen from other members posts - re: floor plan - how to define individual/shared space, canopy design.
