Concept Sketches + Research - C6

Concept
an open structure were the roof simply suspends over the structure, this allows for maximum insulation and a lightweight structure. Considering the site/slope and the roof, whether it be pop-up or a sail like structure.

Research
Architect: Phillip Cox's 'Yulara Resort' in the Kata Tjuta National Park offered structural solutions to our roof concept. Cox has employed numerous sails at a fixed height, our sketches have so far resolved the sail to both a triangular and diamond shape, securing it down at two points against the prevailing winds to protect the building, the sail can still be maneuvered to different heights in accordance with the weather. Cox has employed a pole and sail erection using cables in between sails and to anchor them between the poles

Concept
floor plans: trying to resolve the connection between the dwellings and the slope, considering orientation, some form of decking between and around the dwellings. At this point we have not yet resolved the dimensioning and orientation of spaces within the two dwellings.

Concept
elevations and roof plans to resolve the sail, considering the shape of the sail, ribbing as opposed to a more tensile structure where the sail is free flowing. Floor plan layout concepts/individual and shared space/integration with decking/movement and flow through building.
