ABOVE: Drawing of Chadelier that has been used as inspiration and development of the floorplan.
INITIAL MODEL: Photo of initial model that I used to work out the overall form of the design. This was done by slotting pieces of cardboard together in different combinations. As you can see from the photo, not only the walls slot together and protrude out from each other, but also the roof, to ensure that the form of my design truely captured the form of the chandelier.
In the final design, I hope to extrude the walls further out to emphasise this.
POTENTIAL SITE: Rows of trees on raised platform on Gheringhap Street, next to Deakin. This was my first idea for the site, but with the current idea, not sure if it would work, as not much sun would get to building and limited space for protruding walls. Site not flat, which could be a problem with my design.
POTENTIAL SITE: On waterfront, next to playground. Slopes protect this site to some degree from noise from road and also slight protection from wind. Again limited to amount walls can protrude. Also have problem of blocking path with building. Flat site which is needed for my design.
POTENTIAL SITE: On waterfront next to carpark and near playground. This site is flat (which is required for my design, protected to some degree from the noise from the nearby road, but fully exposed to winds, which could be a problem as the winds are generally strong winds. But this site allows me to take advantage of the sun as the trees don't block the site, and to protrude the walls as far as I want to.
